چکیده
In this chapter, we provide an overview of existing algorithms for blind source separation of convolutive audio mixtures. We provide a taxonomy, wherein many of the existing algorithms can be organized, and we present published results from those algorithms that have been applied to real-world audio separation tasks.

Blind Source Separation in Convolutive Mixtures: A Hybrid Approach for Colored Sources
This paper deals with the blind source separation problem in convolutive mixtures when the sources are colored processes. In this case, classical methods first extract the innovation processes of the sources and then color them, which yields two successive filter approximations. On the contrary, we propose here a new concept allowing to directly extract estimates of the colored sources in one s...
متن کاملSpatio-Temporal FastICA Algorithms for the Blind Separation of Convolutive Mixtures
This paper derives two spatio–temporal extensions of the well-known FastICA algorithm of Hyvärinen and Oja that are applicable to the convolutive blind source separation task. Our time–domain algorithms combine multichannel spatio–temporal prewhitening via multistage least-squares linear prediction with novel adaptive procedures that impose paraunitary constraints on the multichannel separation...
متن کاملThe Role of High Frequencies in Convolutive Blind Source Separation of Speech Signals
In this paper, we investigate the importance of the high frequencies in the problem of convolutive blind source separation (BSS) of speech signals. In particular, we focus on frequency domain blind source separation (FD-BSS), and show that when separation is performed in the low frequency bins only, the recovered signals are similar in quality to those extracted when all frequencies are taken i...
متن کاملBlind Source Separation for Convolutive Mixtures Based on Complexity Minimization
ABSTRACT Using algorithmic complexity to perform blind source separation (BSS) was first proposed by Pajunen. This approach presents the advantage of taking the whole signal structure into account to achieve separation, whereas standard ICA-based methods only use either time-correlations or higher order statistics in order to do so. Another advantage of this approach is that no assumptions abou...
متن کاملSparse filter models for solving permutation indeterminacy in convolutive blind source separation
Frequency-domain methods for estimating mixing filters in convolutive blind source separation (BSS) suffer from permutation and scaling indeterminacies in sub-bands. Solving these indeterminacies are critical to such BSS systems. In this paper, we propose to use sparse filter models to tackle the permutation problem. It will be shown that the l1-norm of the filter matrix increases with permutat...
